VE Day special activity packs
6 May 2020
This year marks 75 years since VE Day and the end of the Second World War.
On 8th May 1945 (VE Day) people across the country celebrated the end of the war in Europe in which many people had served and sacrificed for their country.
To mark this hugely significant anniversary, we’re delighted to be able to offer our tenants and residents the opportunity to celebrate at home with special VE Day activity packs.
The anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on 8th May was set to be a significant occasion with the May bank holiday moved and large scale events planned to commemorate the landmark.
The packs, developed by the Royal British Legion, the National Memorial Arboretum and Citizen Housing, are designed to help people mark the anniversary from their home by reading about VE Day and taking part in activities.
There are versions for children and adults which include puzzles, recipes, extracts from Churchill speeches, lyrics to songs and much more.
We hope they help individuals and families engage with and celebrate the anniversary with activities inspired by the festivities that took place 75 years ago. We hope that you enjoy taking part.
Packs are available for 7-11-year-olds, 11-16-year-olds and 16+.
