Noise and nuisance
While a degree of noise is a part of life, we want you to understand what you can do if noise from a neighbour exceeds what is reasonable.
Before taking any action on this, we'd recommend that you consider whether the noise is unreasonable based on a number of factors including:
- The duration, frequency and intensity
- What time it occurs (reasonable hours are usually classed as 7am–11pm)
- Whether it’s a one-off or continuing problem
- Whether it’s being made deliberately
If noise is coming from a neighbour who is also a Squared customer, we can then potentially investigate and contact that customer. If your neighbour is not a Squared customer, then we can advise you to either contact the police or the local authority to investigate. We can support you with this but often it can be more effective for customers themselves to report issues.
We'd always advise that customers log what and when they are hearing significant noise and even consider downloading the noise app. This app allows you to record the noise that you are hearing and submit this to local authorities.
