All team members work within an agreed Code of Conduct that requires them to maintain professional boundaries with individuals whom they are supporting. These boundaries are in place to safeguard against exploitation or abuse and to enable team members to treat all customers equally.
Team members have to follow rules so that:
- Our services are delivered professionally
- Our team members integrity is not compromised
- We are fair to everyone, with no favouritism
Team members are there to help you to live independently in the community and are not allowed to:
- Provide support to you privately
- Bring unauthorised persons into your home
- Meet or socialise with you when they are off duty
- Smoke, drink alcohol and/or use drugs with you
- Be ‘friends’ with you on any social media
- Give their home or mobile telephone numbers, or home addresses to you
- Handle or hold your money
- Lend money or personal possessions to you or borrow money from you
- Give out any personal information about you to people who are not allowed to know the information
- Give or receive gifts from you including food & drinks
- Offer you their medication e.g. paracetamol
- Show favouritism to you
- Buy anything from you or sell goods to you
- Influence you with their own beliefs and personal values
- Give you a lift in their car unless authorised by their manager
Team members should also work to our acceptable behaviour guidelines:
- Listen and respect your views
- Be sensitive to your cultural needs
- Challenge anyone who is being discriminatory
